JESSIE ROLLAND
PLAYED BY :(Holland Roden)
THE CHARACTER
FULL NAME: Jessica Amelia Rolland
NICK NAMES: Jess, Jessica, Jessie, Princess
PREFERRED NAME: Jessie
AGE: 18
GENDER: female
OCCUPATION: High School Student
HOME REGION:Northwest, moved to MW in high school to live with her mother.
PREFERRED WEAPONS: She played softball… pretty good at swinging things. She’d been shooting before, and can pick up a gun and make use of it.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Jessie stands about 5’9, has flowing hair the color of fire. She has fair skin, it doesn’t burn in the sun though, nor does it tan. She is just destined to remain pale. Thank God for bronzer. She has the traditional brown eyes that come with the red hair, however she is lacking the freckles that seemed to be promised with all of her other physical traits.
Jessie is athletic, she play soccer and softball in high school, all four years and became the varsity level in the tenth grade. She has always been sport and could often be found with her hair up more so then down. Except for during the off seasons, hair down, sun dresses on.
Jessie has a few ear piercings but doesn’t fancy jewelry all that much. They always seem to fall off with out her noticing, get in the way, or break on her. She usually can be found in a sweat shirt and some jeans, but as mentioned before she tends to dress quite fashionable when she doesn’t have practice that evening.
PERSONALITY: A tad sarcastic, she had a sharp mind, and just as sharp tongue. It used to get her in quite a bit of trouble; until she found sports that is. They she was focused on exerting all of her negative energy on the field, and people liked her better after.
An animal lover, she would always beg her parents for pets, and when her family divorced she lived with her father who gave her just about anything her heart desired. When she had to leave she left behind many fur and feathered friends. This broke her heart more than leaving behind the man who had cared for her.
She is naturally competitive, aren’t all great athletes? She finds the thrill in the competition, and can make just about anything be a race. She will challenge any one despite age or gender. She can get a bit nasty in these competitions, the fun comes out of it real quick for anyone she’s against. Very few people can handle her intense personality. But when she meets someone who can they become very close.

HISTORY BEFORE: Born in the Pacific Northwest, among the tree huggers, and animal activist. She was destined to become one of them. That was until the parents broke up. One moves to some place called Oklahoma, home on the range?. The other stays put. The judge agreed. She’ll spend five years with her father, and then switch back to her mother. Five years, and she gets torn out of what roots she had planted and heads west, to a place so vastly different she nearly fell into a case of culture shock. She wanted to run back home, to what she knew. But her mother would not hear of it.
She attended High School. It was hard to infiltrate an already close knit group of kids who had grown up together, but participating in sports was a quick way to get in. Before she knew it she was one of them, and the homesickness had gone away. She was steadily increasing with popularity, and catching eyes. She wanted to see what kind of guys she liked so she dated around a bit. No one really stuck… except for Michael that is. Some called him an egotistical pompous ass. Jessie learned that there was more, he was funny, sarcastic and practically a genius. Although their personalities sometimes clashed, she thought it made the relationship so much richer.
However as time passed and rumors spread and other students wanted their shot at each of them they broke off, only to be off and on nearly all high school… except for their senior year. Jessie came to terms that they really were done. Did this make her sad? Yes. But only for a moment, she was finally free. Emotionally free. She would be able to explore other options with out people saying ”hey aren’t you with Michael?” She didn’t look for him much, they stopped communicating, and she was sure he was watching to see if there was any sign of weakness of them getting back together. Neither showed any. They were done… of course that is until they are the two students that survive the out break… go figure.
DURING APOCALYPSE: Her mother, and her mother’s boyfriend had both come down ill. Jess was upset that they were the ones who spent their nights at the bars and dancing and acting young while she was busy with her senior year, applying to colleges and trying to decide between going back to her father’s or staying in town. She shut the door behind her as she had brought them some orange juice and placed a cool wash cloth on their burning up foreheads. They were lucky it was a saturday… or they would be SOL.
She sat down on the couch and caught up on her television shows. That Katie was so scandalous. When she had officially wasted her day she turned it off and text a friend to see if they wanted to hang out, she got an immediate response that said she wasn’t feeling good. In bed with a fever. Jessie rolled her eyes and sent a text to her back up… same story. Jessie decided to call it a night, and climbed into bed. She woke up to a very different world. When Tom, her mother’s boyfriend was continuously walking into their bedroom door.
Jessie opened the door, and found herself to be attacked by a distorted version of her “step-dad” She escaped with an inch of her life and called the police, they were on their way, and ended up putting a bullet in both her mother and her mother’s boyfriend’s heads. She was taken to the station and she called her father… who didn’t answer his phone. She looked around the station, still in shock over the morning’s events. There was hardly any police on duty. When the outbreak began, she booked it, and headed back home, she packed a bag and headed to find her father… she didn’t get far… practically trapped in the city.
ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:Her jaw tightened at the mention of a gang. One looking for supplies none the less, she dropped her eyes lower to the beam that surrounded the porch. It wouldn’t be safe for much longer, he was right, she shook her head shortly. She didn’t want to seem like this was bugging her, but it sure the hell would when they came banging down her door. She didn’t admit it, but this was her home, she had made it that way and was foolish enough to get attached to the place, to Justin, hell she was sure given a few more hours and she would be attached to Daryl.
That’s not what this world is anymore, she reminded herself, you can’t have relationships, or happiness, you can never be safe. ”A sister,” she nodded understanding the urgency of the matter. He needed to get to her just like she would if she had anyone left, she made a silent oath to help him if she could. There was that truck, it was sturdy, and parked out back, it could easily knock down the infected, but this gang in a car, she was sure their vehicle was more reliable than theirs.
Justin came running back and saved Diana from further explanation of her silenced state. Placed her fist to her mouth as she thought about anyway she could stay here, they could stay here. There wasn’t she knew it. But she hated the thought of relocating and being on the run again. Daryl’s laugh brought her back to the real world, back to the now. The gang of scavengers weren’t breathing down her neck just yet, she was enjoying a sunset in the peace of her home, and with two new friends. This world had her all messed up.
She had to smile when the arrow missed. She laughed as Daryl looked back to her, kind eyes shared the loving joke.
He’s getting good, Daryl commented, and she laughed again, she relaxed her body and watched as Justin ran off to get the arrow. It was getting dark and with the darkness came a great vulnerability. She was glad they were wrapping it up before she had to suggest it. That was when the sound she had hoped to never hear- unless it came from her own hands- filled the dusk. She was like mother lioness in pursuit of the lost cub. She was up and off the porch so fast she would have lost balance if instinct wasn’t taking over. Guiding every footstep. She was through the boundry when she saw the monster fall and Justin seeming to fall into Daryl arms.
She felt an uneasy cool steady through her, the boy’s face contorted in fear and pain, but still, his brown eyes looking a little to Diana’s right, I wasn’t even the last person he saw She stood stiff for a moment, remembering a lifetime ago when a dead boy had stared into her eyes as he bled out. It was probably best Justin hadn’t- she still had nightmares from all those years ago. Once she was able to swallow, she knelt beside his body, falling to the ground. Her steady hands held his face as she looked down to it. Tears were coming now, not sobs, just silent streams. Her lip snarled a bit as she looked over to the dead hick with an arrow in it’s head. She would have liked to do the deed herself, but it was done, and she was sure there would be more to come and take this out on.
She brushed his damp hair out of his face but didn’t dare close his eyes, she couldn’t bring herself to that. She wiped a wet cheek with the back of a dirty hand. ”Shit,” was all she was able to slur out, and that was when the mild sobs followed, she body shook, but her hands stayed steady. She closed her eyes as she suffered this loss. Open your eyes, she scolded herself, the cautious Diana was infuriated by this act, but she didn’t care. Let them get her too. No one was safe. No one was ever safe.
