Lily walked through the empty mall, her eyes going over the shops as she passed them. She had been able to get a ride out of Texas into Louisiana a little bit ago, but so far she hadn't found any place that really looked livable. All she had was her backpack and her steel baseball bat, but that was enough to keep away any unwanted stragglers. The place seemed pretty abandoned, although the girl was surprised more survivors hadn't taken the place up for some kind of safe haven for a bit. It looked like the place had been looted pretty nicely, though. Not a whole lot was left, although it looked like Old Navy still had some nice stock. People weren't as interested in clothes as they were the food and anything that could be used as a weapon. Really, it was a waste to take a lot of clothes with you when food and fresh water was more important. Still, Lily had been wearing the same pair of jeans and tattered tank top she had for weeks. Hesitantly, she made her way to the Old Navy, looking through the topped over manikins and clothes wracks.
The teenager grabbed a pair of capris along with a flannel shirt and a new t-shirt. Looked like they had been stalking up for the summer seasons. Although the girl was alone, she still took the clothes to the changing rooms, just in case some pervert had found their way into the store just in case some cute girl had wandered in. Her clothes fit well enough, and she tossed the old ones to the side, walking from the dressing room feeling a little bit fresher than when she had arrived. It wasn't like she could take a shower any more. It didn't work like that. At least she had her wash cloth...
Lily was in the main part of the mall now, where the fountain had once been the centerpiece for those who wanted to sit down and relax amongst the stores. It wasn't running any more, but the water looked clear enough. She dipped her washcloth and tried to get as much dirt off her face as possible. It wasn't the same as a shower, but it would have to do. It was also safer than trying to attempt this in a bathroom where any sort of zombie could be lurking behind a stall, waiting to get her. The girl knew all the tricks to surviving this kind of situation, which was amazing considering that she had only seen one or two zombie flicks in her life time. This place was dead, though. Without anything else for her to take, she would move on the next day to see what other places she could get to. Her ultimate goal was to make it a little North and see if there were any survivors there. If she could get to the coast, maybe there would be a boat or something...
Honestly, the girl didn't have a grand plan, but it didn't seem like anyone did. They were just surviving day after day. Lily took a breath, tired out by the little effort she had put in. The pregnancy was still in its early stages, which meant that she was constantly exhausted and feeling sick. She sat down on the remaining, intact bench. How exactly could she continue to beat off zombies when she was constantly in need of rest? The girl leaned back and tried to think of a plan. She didn't even hear the shuffling footsteps behind her.
