____________Not too lanky, Oscar’s height is about six feet and two inches (6’2”) give or take. He is quite tall and likes to be so which is why he always keeps a good posture around others. Although it usually doesn’t last too long until he’s hunching his back. As said before, he isn’t very lanky; Oscar has a slight asset of muscle that gives him a much fuller look in his attire. His muscle isn’t anything impressive; it’s simple and not too toned which he finds perfect for having to do simple tasks as well as heavy lifting. He weighs in at a hundred and ninety pounds (190lbs), a reasonable weight due to his height and not-so-big amount of mass.
His face is somewhat scruffy and serious-looking by itself, but is highlighted with a pair of light-blue eyes that despite his seriousness have a shine to them that says there’s life in him like anyone else. He isn’t a lowly man with no soul like most people would perceive him to be, he actually has life.
____________Oscar is usually pretty unkempt, so his dirty blonde almost brown hair is usually left without brushing or care for that reason. So it is pretty much a mess. Though, it isn’t very noticeable as it has the tendency to stay up in a small field of poofyness. It’s kind of dry, well, very dry. And because his hair has this color, his eyebrows look as if they were nonexistent. But they’re there.
____________When it comes to his attire, Oscar prefers a type of casual look that deems a bit formal. He tends to wear buttoned shirts with the sleeves pulled up combined with black pants and formal brown shoes. A variation of this happens every now and then which consists of the shirt underneath an unbuttoned dark-colored blazer. He prefers this style simply because it’s comfortable to him and he can manage some good movement with it. Plus, he’s just too lazy to look for anything else.

____________A man with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Oscar’s mind is mainly filled with compulsive tendencies to seek more and more. Nothing is enough until it is complete and, once complete, can’t stop himself from exploring further into what to him is the unknown. For which reason, once he starts, he cannot be stopped. Maybe delayed, maybe distracted. But stopped, never. This compulsion can concoct a drive to do the unthinkable at times, although rare, it can happen. That’s why he needs answers. Being left oblivious is just a way to piss him off, a way to leave him wanting more. He keeps himself busy most of the time and, thanks to this, has been able to gain knowledge in a variety of topics ranging from science, to music, to language. He can be simply described as fellow with the question ‘why?’ in his genetic code.
____________He isn’t too welcoming of people. His desires of knowledge usually lead him to live the life of an individual; he strives to do things without an annoyance perturbing his thoughts. For which, he tends to unconsciously stray away from crowds. Crowds had usually brought to him nothing more than direct questions needing answers, questions they themselves could look for and answer. It’s always an annoying thought, this, having to answer so much as he never did enjoy letting information loose and about – even less if it’s about himself. He mainly keeps quiet, though, unless there are questions or problems not directed at him. Maybe at another, maybe in general. He finds there’s no other way than to speak his mind in these situations. Thus, overhearing, interrupting and generally being rude.
____________Oscar’s intentions are never to show off despite his rudeness, or to even draw attention. He hates being the center of anything. And when he is, he just can’t seem to stop himself from being a smartass to those around him. It’s like a protective maneuver that activates whether he’s being attacked or not. Even though he does this, he knows when to shut up and let things slide - another part of him that contributes to his years of knowledge as well as withstanding a general public.
____________He isn’t a complete loner, though. Oscar finds himself getting lonely every so often. His work seems to take his mind off this, but once he’s completely done there just doesn’t seem to be anything else he’d much rather do than talk to the masses or, more like, mass. As long as, of course, the person isn’t a complete idiot. His only problem is his approach: he tends to go for something rude, strange, or just burst out commenting. Or worse, he begins being a smartass from the beginning. Even though it’s like this, he is actually quite well-versed when it comes to speaking to big crowds or giving an overall speech. He can control himself. Because he knows if he doesn’t the situation could become annoying or more that it already was.
____________ In spite of his dislike of people, Oscar can actually take orders quite well. His job as an assistant has greatly influenced him in hearing a person out. So he’s always prepared to work no matter how hard the situation may be. Of course, it might piss him off, but he’d much rather not be the one to not contribute a thing. Although it might not show or even seem as if he was at all, he’s always willing. Making him a good asset in times of need. So he means well, even if he can’t completely express that.

[/color]] Reading : Oscar is very fond of a good book every now and then. Its genre doesn’t matter as long as it’s an entertaining plot, neither does its category. All he cares for is finding something good to fill his boredom, to kill time while the world just rots away. Missing pages tend to anger him.____________He isn’t too welcoming of people. [+] Fruits : An obsession of his, fruits had come and gone in his life as fast as he can remember. Which is pretty freaking fast.
[+] Lollipops : Another obsession of his, he’d never admit to being addicted to the sweet taste of those little colorful circles on sticks until he’s been caught in the act of getting one a bit too excitedly. His favorite flavor: grape.
[+] Science : This one is pretty obvious due to his personality. Anything that can be categorized as a science is usually attracting to him.
[+]Puzzles : He enjoys these as it helps him fill his free time which, lately, he’s had a lot of. Also, he doesn’t mind a challenge.
[+] Experimentation : There’s nothing better than putting a hypothesis to test than some good ol’ fashioned experimenting.
[+] Tinkering : Some objects can be used for better purposes than the one it was already set for. Thing is discovering what and how. This is basically Oscar’s pastime.

DISLIKES
[-] Cellphones : Despite his work and knowledge of different technologies, cellphones, to him, has been a piece of technology that has gotten harder in years to manage. Whatever happened to those big phones you’d just dial and call?
[-] Inconclusiveness : This is pretty well explained by his lust for answers. He just hates it, ‘nuff said.
[-] Paranoia : Oscar honestly can’t stand people who enter this state or are like this. It’s annoying, messes his peace and pretty much pisses him off.
[-] Complaining : I think I don’t need to explain myself in this one.

____________Conceived between the months of March and April in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Oscar’s birth would mark an interestingly strange lifestyle of adaptation for his parents. He was their first and only child, a mistake of sorts, but a gift filled with new understandings in the world of human behaviorism. They, his parents, were a pair of lowly scientists who never did want to cross (or get near) the line of child-rearing, which would explain their lack of familiarity with the term. They knew nothing about raising children. But, of course, tried their best at doing so.
____________ Ever since Oscar’s early development, his parents noticed how jealous their son was of the objects handed to him. Every time they would buy him a toy -and he actually decided to play with it- the poor trinket would become his and only his. Nobody could take it. Nobody could touch it. He would start bawling immediately if it were taken away, sometimes, though, it seemed as if he were actually angry at them and would cease the making of any noise humanly possible. So his parents would just leave him be whenever he was playing by himself as it was apparent he did not want them by his side at the moment. However, he’d always be kept under their watchful eyes. It was strange how the child would act by itself: He would begin to examine the toy and place it in different areas just to see it roll down, flip or crash. Other times he’d simply stare at it as if it where something odd. His behavior was strange to them, but pleasant in its own way seeing how he would laugh whenever something new would occur with the object.
____________ He became his parents’ object of interest, they would even go so far as to take notes on his daily behaviors. They had found their son’s attitude towards certain events interesting. It was a science to them, an experience to gain knowledge from. They knew that once the child would grow they would not be able to study him as they are now. So they cherished those moments they saw their child laugh and play - with or without them.
They wanted to predict the future outcome of his behavior, to see if anything would change within the child outside of their ever-changing hypothesis.
____________As he grew, his curiosity towards objects grew as well – he would always be staring at this and that, touching the objects lightly and sometimes, compulsively, leaving them in strange places, if not tinkering with them obsessively. Because of this, Oscar would usually ignore his parent’s presence within the house and would only come to them when he had a question to ask, or something sudden to say that he experienced at school. He would rarely demand his parents’ attention, and when he did, he would simply have more questions than usual needing answering. When asked about his sudden interest in attention, Oscar would just stay quiet and say he needed company or was bored. His parents speculated loneliness at this point, as they would never be completely allowed into their son’s ‘interactive world’ as they would say.
____________It was during his pre-adolescence stage that he became curious about his parent’s world, how they would sometimes bring strange vials and notes into the home. In this time everything was boring and uninteresting to him, seeing as, he had already discovered and tampered with enough to fill his needs. So he became attached to them. Staring, reading, even asking questions – it was surprising to see him so outspoken with them all of a sudden, so strange and interesting. Therefore they would teach him everything he needed, everything he asked. Maybe he was to continue their works when he got older. They filled his head with all sorts of information on various sciences and some medicine which tied along those lines. Unexpectedly, their son had become more open-minded with them. It was an event predicted whose conclusion went completely off.
____________As a teen, Oscar had already read various books lent to him by his parents. His knowledge in science had grown severely since his pre-adolescence and, he, in fact, turned into to some extent of a rebel due to his now ever so incremented curiosity and capacity. So he had become somewhat of a smartass during this stage, even so that his parents couldn't hold from doing the same. Those were the days they would all go to dinner just to make fun of each other’s work, comment and help themselves out. They were fun meetings as anything having to do with food would get Oscar to join in immediately. Otherwise, though, he’d resume his recessive side and simply ignore them, focusing mainly on his studies.
____________Speaking of studies, at school Oscar never did have many friends. He simply spoke to people he found interesting or just to butt in and ‘fix’ conversations having to do with his ‘expertise’. So he gained quite a few followers every now and then – people wishing to know more of his knowledge, or more of the kid in the back of the classroom who never answered to anything. Oscar didn’t exactly enjoy having people question him as much, for which reason he’d always turn heel at them running away as subtly as possible.
____________ During class he’d be just about the same. He would evade and not answer any questions directed at him by the teachers. Though, if they would ask anyone else or a general question Oscar would always be glad to jump not minding if it was rude or not. He couldn't stand the site of questions left lingering by others. So he would, of course, answer everything possible in his knowledge. Although, he was never trying to be a show-off the teen would always stand at written questions on boards and answer them. Sometimes even fix them, making the teachers either: One, become confused. Or two, become angry. Thanks to this he was pretty well-known by his teachers and other professors, so much that some would ask him for help in conducting the class and future references – making him an object of worth, hate and slight infamy for his overall behavior of getting what he wants.
Oscar had always been a brilliant student, getting straight A’s and the occasional B over boredom, laziness and his general critique in every exam ever made. He excelled simply because being the antisocial kid in the back gave him the perk of overhearing anything that could be going within class, plus his curiously-compulsive personality allowed him to do so.
____________In his free time Oscar had taken up a habit of reading, reading comics that is. Mainly sci-fi themed, but he enjoyed reading about superheroes and such. Reading them gave him a sense of a different reality where anything was possible. Of course, he didn’t actually believe this but it was nice while it lasted. So he’d move from genre to genre just trying to find something new. Rarely anything did stick, so he simply stayed with sci-fi seeing as it was interesting reading about all the made-up impossible technologies they’d portray. His interest in them didn’t die as quick as expected. His habit of reading comics actually lasted all through high school.
____________Once graduated he went on to study biological sciences and chemistry during his university life. He had become attached to the labs that allowed students to research and, once he gained his bachelor’s degree in both, went on to become a full-time assistant for a few years. But, of course, his need to learn more had taken over. So he continued his study in a different university in Chicago. There he chose biological sciences as well as medicine and also worked as an assistant in the labs during his free time. Because of this, his life had become a tad busy due to his studies and research. It wasn’t much of a stress, though, as he could be kept busy all day. His job as an assistant was enough to sustain his living expenses which, honestly, weren’t much. He’d rarely be at his house – Oscar practically lived in the labs. So, in four more years, he achieved a master’s degree in biology and a bachelor’s in medicine.
____________He wasn’t always studying – he actually managed to get into relationships. But it seemed most of the ladies he did want eventually ended up becoming crazy maniacs. Just to his luck, he ended up disliking the concept of marriage as well as relationships. So he would steer clear of those whenever the moment seemed to arrive. Of course, some extent of companionship was gained by skipping a few steps, but never developed into something more. He honestly did not like the idea of having someone else over his shoulder.
____________At that time he was offered a job as a professor in biology – something he had put down various times due to the fact that he had to work explaining himself. But, after being allowed to continue his work the labs, he accepted. It was a chance for him to gain a better amount of money and maybe even buy a house. But his own apartment was good enough for just him. So he worked as both, not minding to forge any real relationships besides his jobs throughout his lifetime.

But his own apartment was good enough for just him. So he worked as both, not minding to forge any real relationships besides his jobs throughout his lifetime.
____________ Years had passed since Oscar’s decision to become a university professor had been declared. It was now 2012 and, after a long and boring day of doing what professors do, he was to be notified of a peculiar illness that had been striking around the country. It was currently at its first stages, nothing too big. He dismissed it, though, until he heard the statement that made him completely change his mind: it was incurable. How was this even possible? It was just a simple fever, right? So immediately he began researching it, looking for ways around it. He even got himself a test subject in time, but nothing seemed to work. The test subject simply became worse over time so he was sent off to a hospital. He completely ruled out the disease as a ‘fever’ - it was something worse than this.
____________ Upon checking on the man’s status at the hospital, Oscar wasn’t very shocked to know he had died only a few days ago. The disease was quick in terms of spreading, and weakening the immune system. It was obvious the man would have died in his condition. So Oscar began to rule out any other type of disease that did the same. He had come to conclusions, made hypothesis and everything else. But every time he would feel close to achieving anything just a small detail would send him completely off.
____________ He began to participate in hospitals every now and then – seeing as most did not allow his entry – just to observe the symptoms that would occur to those infected by it. His stay was never welcomed for long. However, he was able to gather notes and point the most interesting behaviors of it. He let his work be driven by these notes and the thought of being able to at least find some sort of cure towards the incurable disease. He did not care for the people; he was just simply on a rampage of answers. No fame, no money, no nothing.
____________ How could this disease be stopped? Why is it suddenly attacking people? What started it? These where the questions that lingered, the questions he hated. He had heard of this disease being ‘the end of days’, that a ‘superior being had done this all’. Yet, he did not believe the people who would say this. It was impossible, illogical, complete nonsense. He did not believe in a God, God to him was like the comics he read when he was a teen: A way to find a different reality, a distraction. A hero like the one portrayed in the pages. Not real.
Oscar continued his research bent on the idea of it having a cure, never stopping to think that the same way it came the same way it would leave. He wanted to solve it or, at least, have someone solve it before him. He wished for peace of mind instead of peace on earth because, to him, this ‘general question’ was going to drive him insane.
____________It was a Saturday, the only day he had woken up in his own bed since he had heard of this mysterious disease. He was to continue his research in the lab until late. But, as he woke, a series of events began to happen that seemed to be planned for him and only him. His shoes had ripped, his coffee spilled, his car had trouble starting up and when it did, he was stuck in traffic due to the hour. And, once he got to the facility, everything was as normal as ever – a good thing since his morning was very… unlucky. It still pissed him off. Though, upon entering it, it was apparent everything wasn’t as normal as he thought it to be. Some of the scientists that used the labs were in panic, quickly walking from place to place ensuring everyone’s safety. The students were calm, but the air of commotion and fright swept the entire place. Seemingly, one of the researchers had contracted the disease and had passed out, only to get right back up in a few hours and begin attacking any human in its radius. They managed to lock him in one of the rooms and began to evacuate the whole building, sending most of the students to their dorms and leaving the researches to cope with the violent being.
____________Oscar simply retreated to his own lab, not minding those hurt around him. He was blind with trying to find the cure and this, this was a development. It was no wonder the hospitals did not want him in. How anyone who would try to visit their loved ones would be turned down immediately. He was running on a hunch, a hunch that told him that all those who would contract the disease would become the same. So he took his precautionary steps, making sure no one would come into his lab unless they wore face masks, gloves and standard robes. He continued his research throughout the day, every so often leaving his lab to eat or check on the man locked in another lab. It was obvious the emergency lines would be full, so he the infected one would still be locked in there.
____________ It was strange how the amount of people walking about would decrease every time he’d take a stroll. As nerve-pulling as it was, Oscar didn’t pay much mind to it, resulting in him still stuck in his lab researching. Resulting in the start of him being stuck there. As the day carried on, screams, gunshots and other abnormalities could be heard coming from the campus. Those that had been attacked were now turning into the same savage beasts as the one locked in one of the labs. Oscar, noticing this, decided to completely shut the building from the others seeing as no one wished to be near a violent infected. Once he made it to the main doors it seemed the whole place was going to hell. People were dismembered, others being eaten alive by those who he now presumably thought to be infected. He was able to close off the building with ease and picked up his own weapons of choice to fend off.
So there he stayed, stuck in his research. Knowing that day was the start of his survival.

Lights flashing and off, people chatting peacefully among themselves, the sounds of small children’s laughter filled the air as they innocently played with a small pup; their parent’s watching over them in an oh so tender way, the innocence. It was so calm, so… typical. It almost gave the impression that the cruel world we live in was perfectly sane, careless. Where having to fear the creatures that creep around in the dark was the least of their worries. This is how the Third District looks like after two weeks of serene and untouched harmony, it was a fun place, where one and all could come for a quick laugh or share a few good moments with old friends. Do some shopping maybe. It was all too perfect.
The hotel was bustling with people looking for a reservation: men, women… Everyone seemed to want to fit into such a small hotel. What was the hurry? The small bear-like creatures we’ve all come to known as ‘Moogles’ were flying frantically in and out of shops, good workers indeed, showing others hospitality and agreeing to fulfill their every order. On the other side we could find a shop that brought more interest to the public eye. A small man, made into a huge sign: a green hat that was being held down on his ruffled white hair. Maybe it was falling off? A huge bow was tied to his neck collar and to finish the look: a giant cane held by one of his gloved hands. He had a crazy look on his face, maybe to be considered… mad. This indeed was the Mad Hatter’s Dresses and Suit shop: Him being the sign itself. The shop had a many few customers: business men and women who hadn’t been able to work for weeks were flocking in and out of the store. Some satisfied others… not so much.
The night truly was something out of a dream. So festive, it was something to be truly cherished, one in a million. These were the comments citizens of the bustling place known Traverse Town would describe it. This was almost a first to them, a small improvement… maybe. They kept their hopes up and continued on enjoying this night.
A small glittering light that shined weakly under the other more… flashier ones was spotted on top of what was known as The Gizmo shop: A double-floored shop whose big clock and bell towered over the rest. It was the center piece of the area, that, and the small fountain that was located near the exit to the First District. Glittering, the small light managed to capture the attention of a few, most of who dismissed as a Moogle playing tricks. But a Moogle it wasn’t, there was a slightly shadowed figure holding the shining object up. And upon closer inspection it was a human. A blonde girl holding the object up, a boyish-type baseball hat made her face remain the in the shadows as the glittering object was brought to closer to her face a pair of satisfied eyes looked it over. Examining every inch on the dazzling sparkle it had. This girl was Karin, and that object was stolen by her earlier in the day. She had managed to steal it from the Accessory shop. Tapping it every now and then her curiosity over the object grew bigger and bigger, it had power. But what kind of power was her question. She sighed, setting the object aside and looking down on the citizens of Traverse Town. You see, she was seated at the edge of the bell tower, it was refreshing. The night was so happy it almost made her smile.
“Rem…” She finally managed to say, wishing her little comrade could see this scenery. Her small companion was in a deep slumber, as always. He’s been that way for weeks now and it was beginning to take a toll on her. She was feeling… lonely. Everything about this day was perfect, yet she couldn’t shake off the feeling that it was too perfect. She knew something had to go wrong… sooner or later. “Why won’t you wake up…?” She whispered, almost begging for a sign of life. The District was still bustling with people playing games and having fun. Yet she felt she had had enough of this. It was either her happiness or theirs. But what in the world was she thinking? Her thoughts, from their previous carefree state, had turned into something more murderous. Yet her face had a never changing expression of utter boredom. This ‘thoughts’ were the culprits of her heart darkening more and more, the reason why REM was now by her side. It’s still considered a miracle that Karin can still take on a human appearance without looking like one of those monsters. They gave her nightmares at times that she felt like this. Maybe that’s why she still hadn’t changed yet. She had bad intentions, yet worked for a good cause. Wow, would she be ever more contradicting… The District was now filling up with more and more people, the shining object next to her remained still. Feeling a strange breeze that caressed her face made her uncomfortable, it had been a long time she had felt one like this. Karin leaned in, looking over the crowds of people and observing the cheerful commotion these crowds were producing.
