KACI DENVERS
PLAYED BY :(LYNDSEY FOSENCA)
THE CHARACTER
FULL NAME:Kaci Grace Denvers
NICK NAMES: None
PREFERRED NAME:Kaci
AGE: 27
GENDER:Female
OCCUPATION: Detective
HOME REGION:Midwest
PREFERRED WEAPONS: When it comes to weapons Kaci isn’t truly bothered. She’ll grab anything she can use, but you’ll see her with some form of knife, or small calibre handgun.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Kaci is lean, and has the muscles in the right place, showing that she worked hard for the body she currently holds. Its more to hide the scars that she doesn’t allow anyone else to see though, scars that just prove she had a hard life. She has several scars, each of which hold a story. The one on her neck, which goes down from her ear down to her shoulder was from an ‘accident’ with a glass window. She has several other faint scars running around her upper body from the same ‘accident’. She has another one on her lower stomach from a surgery when she was younger. Blue eyes often appear cold, and chocolate locks tend to be pulled away from her features, showing of the strong set of her jaw. Kaci appears tough, her stance strong and sure, her gaze never misses a beat. People tend to stay away from her because she appears fearless. Her gaze unwavering, and her stare hard.
PERSONALITY: Kaci has been deemed an ice queen throughout her life. People often describe her as someone with no heart, who doesn’t know how to smile, and wouldn’t know what love was if it hit her in the face. Several of those statements are true, if not all of them. It is though only what Kaci allows people to see of her, it is her first defence and her last defence. Kaci grew up knowing if you were to survive in the world it was because you protected yourself, you didn’t show people you had a weakness because then it made it so you didn’t. Kaci is much more than what she allows people to see. The only down side is you need to be close to her to see underneath her cold exterior.
Kaci in fact is a very loving person, and she has great instincts to protect people she actually lets close to her, saying that she has a quick tongue and observes people enough to know exactly what to say to cut them deep. She regrets only a few things in her life, but never lets anyone close to her. Kaci is a very closed of person, only trusting a select few people in her life. She’s extremely tough and will show down with anyone who pushes her buttons, shes quick with her words, quick on her feet, and knows how to hurt someone where it counts.
Only two things you really need to know. If she cares for you, she’ll protect you in any way she can, she’ll laugh and cry with you and hold you when you need it. If she doesn’t like you, she’s gonna do anything in her power to let you know it.
LIKES
- Dogs- She used to have one when she moved out of her fathers house. It was the first thing her adoptive family brought her and she has loved them ever since.
- Ice cream- nothing sooths a person like the cold refreshing taste of ice cream first thing in the morning. She never eats ice cream at any other time of the day, and usually enjoys it as the sun is coming up.
- Working out- she prefers staying in top physical condition, often going for early morning jobs, then hitting the gym before heading to work.
- Reading- When she isn’t working she’s often curled up on the sofa emerged in some book or another, no romance novels for her though, to tacky.
- Oliver Wilson- The man literally saved her life and she has been great full to him since. Not only did he save her life, but he brought her into his family, shared his home and his life with her.
DISLIKES
- The sperm donor as she likes to call him- He wasn’t a father, more of a slave driver and then some. Kaci never got along with him, and she hasn’t once visited him in prison.
- Ray Denvers aka her brother – Ray is a very sore subject with her. He left her when she was 14 to join the army, leaving her in the capable hands of her brother, she has never forgiven him and has refused any contact with him.
- Rapists- Brings far too many memories to the fore front of her mind, she feels for the victims to much, and often puts herself in sticky situations to get the bad guy.
- The fact she is dyslexic- it held her back in school only because she never let anyone know there was a problem and when the teachers figured it out, her father never paid any attention. Once she was out of his control, Ollie taught her to see it as a strength and not a weakness.
- Cats- Do not ask her why, but cats freak her the hell out. She can be in the same room with one if she has to be, and by has to be she means if she’s working a case, otherwise shes out of there. There’s just something about them she’s never liked.
HISTORY BEFORE: Kaci has a somewhat normal life for the first four years of her life. In fact for Kaci she supposed her entire 14 years of life was normal, because she didn’t know anything else, so for her, what she lived was normal, but things did shift when she was four years old. It was at four that her life and that of her eight year old brother’s life changed. Their mother, on the way home from the weekly shop, she was involved into a car accident and died two days later in hospital. Kaci didn’t truly understand what was happening, she was four, it didn’t click with her that she was never going to see her mother again. Ray was there with her, the way that he always had been.
Their father who had always enjoyed a ‘healthy’ drink up until that point, became something else. His ‘healthy’ drink became a drink when he woke up, a drink with his breakfast, a drink with his lunch and his dinner and before he went to bed. Small little things began to annoy him and the two of them started watching their steps, they knew that running up the stairs was a no go, that getting food without his permission was a no go, soon it seemed that even breathing was a problem. Kaci remembered the first time their father lashed out at Ray. Ray had been late home from school, he had been 14 at the time, and he had gotten detention in school for fighting with another boy who had picked on him for not having a mother. Their father who had taken his drinking to at least four during his meals, didn’t like the Ray replied to him.
Things were considerably worse after that, and Ray bless his soul did what he could to protect Kaci, something Kaci, even to this day has never forgotten it. (Just don’t tell him that if hes alive that is) They did what they could to stay out of their fathers way, it was never enough though, there was a time when one of them got a hit, and sometimes their father got inventive, but he never once allowed it to show, except once when she was 12. She had been home from school ill after her operation the month before. She had snuck into the kitchen to get herself something to drink when her father came in. Kaci even to this day doesn’t full know what happened, all she knows is that woke up in the hospital. The nurses telling her that next time she needed to be more careful and that maybe their father should put some stickers on the glass French doors so that another accident didn’t happen.
After that things seemed to settle down, Kaci buckled down in school, even though she didn’t like it because the words got muddled up, something that the teachers at one stage got her father in about. He didn’t do anything though, even when she was tested and told she had a mild form of dyslexia. She could read perfectly fine, but writing and grammar she was terrible about. Kaci could do nothing really but try to wing in. She managed it though, barely.
The year she turned 14 though would always stick in her mind. It was the year her brother came home at the age of 18 and told her he was leaving to join the military. She didn’t believe him at first because Ray had always been there for her. He had held her when the news of their mothers death had sunk in and she realized her mother was never coming home. He protected her from her father, he helped her study, he cooked the meals, and when their wasn’t enough food in the house to sustain the both of them, he gave her his share of food. It wasn’t until he came down stairs with a duffle shoved over his shoulder that she knew he was leaving. She watched him leave and she could feel her heart shatter. She had no idea how she was meant to get through it, not without her brother.
It was the first time she ever raised her voice to her father. The argument that ensued became violent quickly and for the first time the neighbours got involved. The police arrived just as her father had truly began laying into her. It was the first time she met Oliver Wilson but it surely wasn’t the last. Oliver Wilson came in and took her to the hospital where the wounds she had sustained was patched up and then she was taken down to the police station and a formal stamen was given, old wounds recorded. That night he took her back to his home and she met her new family. Regina, Ollies wife and Rayne his daughter. They all took her under their wing, welcoming her into their arms, and family.
Her father was put to trial and convicted, something which she was grateful for, she never heard from her brother, and he didn’t attend. It took her years to truly open up to her family, waiting for them to leave her, to turn their back on her or the other penny to drop. It never did and she settled into live with the Wilson family. It was Ollie that got her interested in joining the force, she wanted to do what he did, she wanted to help people. Ollie convinced her to buckle down at school and when she got stuck it was him who helped her, it was him who made sure she understood the work. When she wasn’t in school, she was working in her ‘mothers’ restaurant, earning herself money, it was one thing she insisted on, she didn’t want anyone buying her anything, she was going to buy her own things.
Right out of school she joined up with the academy, her father writing her a recommendation, she proved pretty early on that she had what it took. She had been doing early morning runs ever since getting out from under her fathers hair, using the natural hill she could find to add some resistance to her workouts. The gym was second nature to her and she even had a small set up in her own room. There were only two things she ever really struggled with during the academy, self defence lessons, and the writing part of the academy.
As her confidence grew though so did her skills in taking down a suspect. It wasn’t until she was on the job though working as a beat cop that she was really tested. Being called out to robbery’s and domestic disturbances brought a lot of memories back for her and she had to push all those emotions down to do her job, giving her the nickname of ice queen. She only ever truly got along with her partner and it was through him that she got her break at being a detective. It was always her end goal, and during a murder investigation she finally got it, when her and her partner brought down the suspect both were promoted. Life was easy.
DURING APOCALYPSE: Then everything turned to crap. She was sat at home when the first strange reports came in on the news, then everyone was called into work. No one knew what the hell was happening, but rumours had it the government did, that some sort of virus hit. They didn’t know it was air born then, and they all went out onto the streets, turning up at addressee, answering calls, wherever they were needed they went. They saw weird ass stuff, the things people were doing, the things they did and said, and the way they acted. Even if they wanted to forget it they couldn’t. It was just something you didn’t forget. You never forgot crazy
When the world was turning crazy and things were happening there was only so long you could stay on the front lines. Kaci had no problem doing so, but she had a family she needed to take care of a family she needed to know were okay. She stocked up on a couple of handguns and ammo and took off into the streets. Three days in and news was finally hitting the airways, warnings and confusing talk, Kaci knew enough to be afraid. She arrived home to fine her sister dead and her father crazed. She did the one thing she never thought she would, she took him out, before he took her out.
Airborn, that what they were told, the virus was air born, which meant everyone was infected and if you weren’t one of them by now then you were lucky. Or actually fucked, royally. Cus who the hell could survive through something like that? Half the team were dead, her partner killed and turned, just another person Kaci had to take out. With her partner dead, and her family gone, there was only one person she needed in her life, one lose end she had to tie up. She went in search of her brother. She had no idea where he was, the last she heard he was living in LA, so that’s where she headed.
With her weapons in toe she headed out in car, it only got her so far, the world was going to hell and people lost common decency, Kaci didn’t get it, banding together was a hell of a lot better, safer, but no, it seemed people wanted what they wanted and damn everyone else. Two weeks in a group of men ambushed her, Kaci wasn’t stupid, she was trained but she didn’t have a death wish, giving up her weapons and her car shes left with nothing but the small backpack she has and her pocket knife and a world filled with ‘zombies’ that want to kill her. Was finding her brother worth it? Maybe.
ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:If Grace wasn’t already aware of what hell felt like, or what hell was, she would have thought what was currently occurring was just that, because it sure seemed like everything was going to hell lately. First Hope comes to her and tells her that the Disir are to be released upon the earth, which if you asked Grace, that was just asking for a whole lot of trouble. The Disir were unstable, and they couldn’t be trusted, and most of them had an attitude problem, and they all had a score to settle. And Grace should know she had been spending more and more time down there with them. She knew they wanted freedom, and when they got it? There were hundreds of fresh bodies for them to feast on, souls to devour. Oh yes, releasing them was stupid, yet Hope seemed sure that Grace could get that job done. Damn queen was crazy.
On top of that, and on top of the nameless rising once more, and amassing an army, on top of the traitors that were crawling out of the wood work on a daily basis her own daughter, her own flesh and blood had been violated by the head honcho himself. Oh if Grace knew one way of harming him she would do it, over and over again. Her Jennifer deserved so much more, she didn’t deserve to be violated like some common whore. Someday Jenifer was going to become the gatekeeper and she would do both her parents proud. It was a shame though that Grace wasn’t doing them proud, wasn’t doing none of her family proud. It wasn’t like she didn’t want to, because she did, lord knows she did, but every single time she tried there was something holding her back, something stopping her and she knew exactly what it was. Phoenix. She wasn’t her, and she never would be, and the remaining part of Phoenix that resided inside of her, refused to relinquish husband.
Truth be told, she was, and would always be, two different people. Grace she wasn’t Phoenix, she was nothing like her she shared no mannerisms, she didn’t even share the same looks. She was just an angel that God had created and tossed down with the memories of Phoenix locked inside of her. Or at least that was what Grace had first thought, but the more Phoenix came out the more she realized, Phoenix wasn’t trapped memories, she was a trapped being. Grace and Phoenix truly were two entities, two essences trapped in one body, both fighting to get out, and while that battle raged she would never be the woman, the angel that Belial fell in love with, she would never be the mother to her children.
“Lady Grace” A panicked voice touched her ears and she turned from the window in which she had been looking out of. She refused to spend her time in hell, spending more and more time upon earth in their home, than down in the realm they both belonged. Blue eyes eyed the demon who had interrupted her thoughts and she knew something was wrong. Panic oozed from him, he was so panicked he didn’t even bow to her. She felt the warning in her head, alarm bells ringing and she was moving forward even before the demon spoke.
“It is Master Beilial, he is gravely wounded” Grace stopped dead, and the other essence flared inside of her. She had to remind herself that this wasn’t her concern, and the love that he felt for her was not for her, but for the woman he knew was still within her.
“Where is he?” She questioned her voice grave and commanding. Where had that come from? The demon moved quickly, pulling open the door for her. “He is within our home realm Lady Grace” She nodded her head and power took her away in an instant, reforming by the door that would lead her into their room.
“Lady Grace you came” Cold eyes snapped to the demons that were tending to him, to the demons that stood guard. “Of course I came” Words were said quickly, coated with bitterness. They bowed their heads, other stepping out of her way which was good, because otherwise she would have just pushed them out of the way. The one concern for her was on the bed, looking ashen, skin pale lips tinged with a blue she did not like, nor did she appreciate the reappear in the room.
“Leave us” She commanded. There was a rustle and then silence. She swooped over to her husband.
“You can not save him” The voice was a rasp and she was offended that Death himself hadn’t shown to claim one of the most prized. Grace lifted her gaze to the reaper, her eyes narrowing.
“It is the truth. You can not hope to save him while you still battle to save yourself” Grace shook her head, dropping down to her knees beside her husband, taking his hand within her own. God it was cold, so cold. Closing her eyes she brought his hand to her lips, kissing it softly. “I am here my love” She whispered.
“You are the only one who can free yourself” Grace tried to tune out the reaper, god when had they become so annoying. “You can not save him”
Dark blue eyes lifted, flaring with a power she hadn’t felt in a long time. “Watch me” Her words were low, dark and commanding, and a dark power fell from her aura, she glared at the reaper. “He is my husband. He is my soul mate, he is the thing that keeps me tethered to this plain and I will not sit and watch him die” White light streamed through her fingers, connecting her with her husband, and a shit occurred within her. She swore she saw the reaper smirk.
“Welcome back Phoenix” Heaving in a deep breath she watched as the reaper disappeared before she slowly brought herself to the bed, kneeling upon it, softly words fell from her lips. The song she always sung when there was healing that needed doing.
Phoenix was back.
