HISTORY BEFORE:
Echo was born in a small town in the Texas panhandle, Dalhart to be specific. She was the only child to Maggie and Chris Atrea. Though Chris wanted a son desperately his wife was unable to have any other children. So Echo became daddy's little girl. As she grew up her father taught her all the things he would have taught his son, despite that Echo never really became too much of a tom-boy. Watching football was a weekly tradition when the season was right, as was baseball and basketball. As she got older Chris began to take his daughter hunting with him; teaching her over time to hunt on her own. The sound of gunfire frightened her at the young age so she favored learning how to shoot the bow.
As years passed Echo was torn trying to keep both of her parents happy, to be her mother's idea of what a girl should be and be the kind of daughter her father wanted. This kept the girl busy with after school activities and weekend adventures. She managed though, with the love of singing growing. One of the few classes Echo looked forward to everyday of school, with concerts every month her parents happily attended. They were both proud of their daughter, which warmed her heart. By most standards she had a wonderful childhood.
The love of music and song didn't fade from Echo as she grew older, neither did the hunting trips with her father, then finally she graduated from her local high school. She was an average student, not one of the top class and nowhere near the near failures. Echo had dreams that would take her elsewhere in life, far away from that small town in Texas. The truck was all packed up full of her belongings, her soul full of love and well wishes from family and friends. Then she headed north, New York to be exact. Sure it wasn't the ideal place to find her path to becoming a musician, but Echo was never one to follow the straight and narrow that most people did.
Everything wasn't all rainbows and sunshine of course, first thing was first she had to find a job. Singing would be great, but she had no experience to go with her talents. As luck would have it there was an audition going on at a building near her apartment, not for an actress in the strictest sense but it would be exposure if she could land it. Echo quickly went home, got herself all dolled up and walked in with her head held high. It was probably part of that Southern charm that got her in, the executives seemed to love that about her. The little country girl in the big apple wanting to be on the news? Yeah they saw a gimmick there.
As things turned out Echo actually really enjoyed the job, sure it wasn't the huge stories she got sent on, but that was part of what she liked about them.

here get creative, make the outbreak your own, describe what your character was doing when everything happened, how they reacted, where they went, who they lost, three paragraphs minimal.
