HISTORY BEFORE:
John was born in 1988, in one of the houses at the then Navy air station at Miramar. He was the son of Captain John Frost and Diana Frost-Dixon. His father was a navy pilot, and his mother was the secretary of the Mayor. John practically grew up around military personnel and airplanes. Ever since he was just a little child, he wanted to join the military.
When he started High school, he immediately started getting high marks, and was placed in on of the higher education classes. Even there he was a tad better than the rest. When he finally got his diploma, he enlisted, following the family tradition. Though he did not join the Navy or the army. He joined the United States Marine Corps.
John was pretty good at physical exercises, but also was a good shooter, and an even better tactician. This made him leader of the training squad, which ultimately finished at the third place in a championship between the classes. He was disappointed, about not winning, but third place was still a good end.
After basic training, he choose to go to flight school and to become a jet pilot. He proved to be quite good at flying, and soon after he passed, he was assigned to a squadron. By now he was a second lieutenant. His squadron was deployed to Afghanistan, where they'd provide air support to his fellow riflemen, as every marine is a rifleman. Only some have chosen another specialisation.
After some good flying, and solid hits, he was promoted to the rank of first lieutenant, and continued to serve in Afghanistan. After their 6-month term of deployment was over, they returned home. After a while, John was transferred, after the brass found out he was dating Lieutenant Lisa Argon, a pilot in his squadron. His new home would be his childhood home: Miramar Air Station.
DURING APOCALYPSE:
When the disease struck, John was told he was one of the few that wasn't infected. So he just went on with his life, but due to the many infected, there wasn't much to do. He decided to upgrade his mechanical skills and did some maintenance on his plane. Suddenly people started dying, and he was sent home. Basically the whole base was emptied. When the dead 'decided' to live again, he knew he had to go to the base and stock up on weapons.
So he grabbed his hunting rifle (Remington R-15) and all the ammunition he had. He already had to shoot his way outside, but knew that, once he got to his car, it would be a simple drive to the base and that if he'd gain enough speed he could drive over these things. By the time he reached his Ford, he already shot up one magazine, and only had 2 remaining when he reloaded. He certainly hoped that the base was still empty.
When he arrived, he realised that the military at least did some things right, evacuating the base as an example. This would give him time to gather supplies, weapons and ammunition. He drove up to the motorpool to 'steal' an APC. Once he had her fired up he made sure he had fuel for a long time with him. After that he drove to the armoury, which housed both weapons and ammo. About an hour later, he had gathered food an water as well. The only thing that remained were medical supplies. John raced to get them, and already heard the things. He'd have to hurry to make it out again. In the nick of time, he managed to get the meds as well. By now the APC was pretty full and loaded up. Now he'd hit the road and try to find other survivors, surely there would be some in the cities?
ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:On an unusually hot morning, Charles and the rest of his platoons are driving home after a standard recon mission when they suddenly hear a big boom and gunfire. The lead car was hit by an I.E.D, and the remaining cars were under heavy small-arms fire. Charles immediately ordered the gunners to return fire and the rest of the men to take cover behind a small wall and to return fire. As the men return fire, Lance-Corporal Adams gets contact with Command and requests support
Adams:” Striker-Actual, this is Striker one-one, we need immediate fire support! five casualties, counting twenty-plus hostiles armed with AK-47’s!”
Command:” one-one, this is Striker-Actual, copy that, Striker one-three is Oscar Mike and we have two Apaches Call sign Thunder vectoring towards you. Hang in there”
Adams:” Roger that sir! We have another man down, what is the ETA on the support!?”
Command:” ETA on One-three is 30 minutes, and ETA on Thunder is ten minutes. Medevac will arrive with one-three”
Adams:” copy that, one-one out!”
Charles emptied his magazine and saw that he and the men were running low on ammo and therefore would not be able to hold out much longer. As Charles loaded his last magazine in his rifle, he vaguely heard the sound of a helicopter in the distance and began to wonder whether the Apaches would get there in time and if they knew where the marines were. He then stood up and fired on the enemy to get to one of the vehicles and took a smoke grenade out of it. Charles armed it and threw it down on the ground to signal the Apaches.
Adams:” Thunder, Thunder, this is Striker one-one, copy, over!”
Thunder:” We copy, one-one”
Adams:” Great, watch out for the green smoke! Those are friendlies!”
Thunder:” Roger that one-one, we see you, Thunder out”
Adams:” great, One-one out”
Adams then yelled:” They see us!”
Charles ordered the men to lay down and take cover, as the Apaches started firing. After a while the Apaches lay down fire, the platoon of men would continue to fire back whatever ammo they had left as well while at the same time moving up to check the injured or KIA men in the lead vehicle that got hit by the I.E.D. After a few minutes, the support arrived and the wounded were loaded in the truck which had emergency medical stuff installed.
When everything was finally ready for departure, Charles entered his vehicle and took the lead position. The ride home seemed to take hours, while in fact it was only a few minutes. After the line of vehicles finally came to a halt, medical personnel already surrounded everything so everyone would get treated right. Charles immediately walked to the Commander’s office to debrief, but to his surprise, the commander wasn’t there. After a few minutes, a major walks in and begins to talk
major:" Lieutenant Casey, you are selected for a secret program, and you will be promoted to First Lieutenant. You are selected because we think you are the most qualified person on this base. You are to pack your things and report here no later than 2200 hours today. If someone asks about it, you will tell them that you have been assigned to another unit back home."
Charles:" yes sir, will do"
after hearing that he of all people was selected for a secret program, he immediately ran to the barracks to pack his stuff. He still wasn't sure what to think when he began to walk to the main building a few hours later but he knew it was going to be a wild ride.
PLANS: I really have no idea. As there's probably no need for pilots now, I guess he'll take a truck, load it with whatever supplies he can find and head off to find other survivors.
