Janelle O'Hara
PLAYED BY :Hayden Panettiere
THE CHARACTER
FULL NAME: Janelle Aurora O'Hara
NICK NAMES: Trinket
PREFERRED NAME: Janelle. Not Jan!
AGE: 18
GENDER:Female
OCCUPATION: Lingerie sells girl
HOME REGION:Southeast
PREFERRED WEAPONS: Her charm. She is not much for getting her hands dirty, and prefers to have someone else protect her.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Janelle is a hygiene freak, and somewhat of a perfectionist. Her nails are always manicured, and her hair is always shiny. She prefers clothes that stand out, and they are often brightly colored. She prefers to wear things that show off her curves, and feminine form. Such as frilly, fun and flirty tops, with designer heels. She understands fashion, not trashy. She always looks well polished and groomed.
PERSONALITY:Janelle is the ‘glass half full’ kind of girl. Even if she doesn’t believe it at first, she will keep telling herself over and over, until she does. She likes to lean toward the positive side of things, simply because it makes life more bearable that way. She is no stranger to loss and tragedy, she has suffered. Most of her grief has taken place during the past two years of her life. Instead she tries to focus on the fun and cheerful side of life, even if it is a lie. As a girl who ‘once upon a time’ had a simple life, she craved danger, now she her life has became overwhelmed with it. Now that she has had a taste of ‘the edge’ she likes to walk along it just al little bit. Even, if she sometimes can’t control exactly how dangerous it gets.
One thing she can control is the ‘cleanliness’ of things around her. It gives her a false since of control of her world. She is not your typical girl next door. She is a small girl, and usually is forced to wear high heels to keep herself from being over looked. Due to her former cheerleader days she has a slim athletic build, which has been very useful. When it comes to relationships Trinket is a hopeless romantic, and loves beautiful people. Be that by physical means, or if they are just incredibly sweet. She loves bad boys, and guys that are maybe just a little bit too old for her. She loves the rush, and the danger. She likes men that can challenge, and excite her. She doesn’t have an actual ‘type’ as far as features go. She does however fall in and out of love at an alarming rate. Trinket is sweet, and approachable however she refuses to be walked over. She will not back down, and thinks nothing of standing up for herself. She is tough when she needs to be.
Janelle is a very likable girl, and she has that innocent girl next door appeal. She usually tends to have a smile on her face, and is generally approachable. Girls usually get along with her because she is just cute and not breathtakingly gorgeous, so they do not feel threatened by her. Guys tend to like her because of her playful tomboy attitude. People are naturally drawn to her on account of her happy, upbeat attitude. She isn’t fake, and she says exactly what she means, so people know that they can go to her with their problems. She makes friends fast, and rarely brings people down with her drama, so they enjoy being in her company. She handles her problems delicately and patiently, and doesn’t act rash. She thinks things through, and has the ability to take on a great deal of emotional pain. She rationalizes everything, to try to understand her problems and make them more manageable in small doses. Her emotional problems build up over time, as it is a long process for her to deal with them, however in the end she manages to come out sane and a better person..
She understands duty, honor, and friendship. This is where her determination comes in, she will do whatever she can to help, and sometimes this can lead her into danger. She can be loyal to a fault, when it comes to the right person. When she says something she means it, and when she gives her word it is as thick as blood. She is who she is, and she won’t compromise herself, but other than that once she either trusts you or loves you then you can count on her no matter what. Janelle is young, and ignorant of the ways of the world. She has not been far from home, or seen much of the world. Most of the people that she knows she has known from birth. She has little experience with people that are not local to her town, and some may see this as a way to take advantage of her. She is trusting, and even if she may have a bad gut feeling about something she will likely push it away. She hates seeing the bad in people, and only wants to believe that people have her best intentions at heart. She believes that people see the world the same innocent way that she views it.
Janelle has a lot of ‘blonde’ moments. Sometimes logic and common since escape her. She isn’t dumb, she is just severely lacking in street smarts. She is sensitive about this, and sometimes it hurts her feelings when she feels left out. Sometimes when she is clueless she tries to fake it and just go with it so that way she isn’t called out on her lack of knowledge. If you do not want Janelle's opinion then do not ask for it. This is a warning. She is blunt, harsh, and to the point. She is very observant, and will tell you exactly what she thinks, even if it is not what you want to hear. She is so sweet, so sometimes her honest words come as a shock. The fact that they come through a smile is sometimes confusing. She was raised to never lie, and she took it to heart. She says what she thinks, and often doesn’t realize that her words have come out so direct.

HISTORY BEFORE:Janelle grew up on a farm in Texas. She took care of the cows and sheep, and did day-to-day work. She preferred to tend to the animals then to socialize with other children and make friends. Her father pushed her to go to sleepovers, but her mother insisted that they just let the child be. Janelle hated being around other children, they were so jealous and selfish. However, the animals were just animals and all they wanted was food and love. Things were simpler, and easier around the critters. Eventually she began to feel the desire to fit in as she got older. She made friends, dated boys and joined cheerleading. She became somewhat popular, and had a very exciting and eventful life at high school. She had a few decent boyfriends, but she always wanted something more. Dangerous, exciting, forbidden. She wanted to feel the rush for herself, instead of vicariously living through it with her friends. Her grandmother was taken by cancer, and it started a downward spiral in her life. Since she could not control the injustice in her life she found other things that she could control. This turned her into a perfectionist. As a B average student her focus in school was never on her grades, but more on remaining popular and cheerleading. By the time she graduated Janelle had very few life experiences under her belt. She had managed to get good tips during her time as a waitress, and the job kept gas in her can and stylish shoes on her feet but it got old. When her best friend told her that the lingerie store where she worked was hiring, Janelle refused to pass up on the opportunity.
After high school, the lingerie store was a steady job. However, Janelle had a few unsteady relationships that did not end well. One thing lead to another and she ended up making a bad judgment and followed Mr. Wrong out to Georgia. She felt at home, at least people there did not make fun of her for her southern accent. She transferred her job, and continued selling lingerie. Six months later he broke her heart when she found him sleeping with another woman in their apartment. It crushed her world and she fell into a deep depression that she swore she would never fall into again. She picked herself up, got herself a dog and went on with her life. She stayed in Georgia, and continued dating. As a hopeless romantic, she could never give up on love. She moved in with one of her new friends, and made the best of it. Even though she missed her family, she wanted to prove to herself that she really could make it on her own.
She started working part time at a bakery, and found that she actually had a hidden talent for baking. She and her roommate began putting money back to start their own bakery. Janelle had a gift for icing cakes, and making something really unique and special with frosting. They were going to call it “Icing On The Cake” and they really thought their idea was quite brilliant.
Two years went by with the two girls saving and scrounging for every penny to put into the fund. Finally, when they had enough to actually put a down payment on a building they went to meet with some investors. They were young, beautiful women who had yummy deserts to offer and if that wasn’t enough they also had cleavage. A lot of cleavage. Desperate for their plan to work they were pulling out all the stops. Janelle felt that everything was finally falling into place, and that she was finally where she was supposed to be. All the suffering and moving to Georgia was going to be worth it.
DURING APOCALYPSE: It was a day like any other, I know that for sure. At least it started out that way for Janelle. She was oblivious to the fact that the world was dissolving around her feet. Another day of sketching cake designs in her free time and selling underwear. Maybe it wasn’t the most exciting life, but Janelle was content with it. She arrived at work, and up until lunch time she had a pretty slow day. Usually men would stop in on their lunch break to buy something for their mistresses. Not the most moral line of work, but it paid the bills. Also it gave her a discount on some more scantily clad bits for when she did have a boyfriend. When one tall man dragged himself in she thought he was odd. His leg was bent at an odd angle, and he seemed to be limping heavily. She asked him politely if she could help him with something. He snarled at her. She had dealt with some creeps but that was just ridiculous. He continued toward her, and she backed away as he slashed his hand at her, trying to grab her. She screamed, and was startled. She hit him over the head with a mannequin and ran out the door. She was devastated to find that her attack was not isolated, people were running this way and that. With no sure idea what to do she ran home, trying not to trip over the dead bodies over the way. A few of the zombies chased her but thanks to her cheerleading days she had stamina to run for long periods of time. She made it home, and locked herself away. When her roommate did not come home after three days, she presumed she was dead. Janelle stayed glued to the television, watching the news and trying to figure out what was going on. Sadly two semi broke girls did not have a lot of food stored up, and she was forced to leave. She managed to escape the town, and found herself in the forest trying to hike her way to somewhere less populated. With only a bag of clothes and essential items, a duffel bag of food, and a few bottles of water she escaped. Growing up on a farm had taught her a thing or two about living in nature, and she managed to get through. She found a small group, but as the days wore on their numbers dwindled. Janelle found herself on her own again. Lost, afraid, and alone.
ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:Janelle had slipped out to get a bit of clarity away from her parents and most importantly her over protective brother. She kept her pepper spray in her back pocket just in case, she was not suicidal and she knew what sort of creatures lurked in the night. She had changed dramatically in less than five years. She was not the bubbly cheerleader anymore whose only concern was what she was going to wear to prom. She was going to graduate soon, and her low level job as a waitress was not going to sustain her for the rest of her life. Sure she made great money, but did she really want men groping her ass for the rest of her life. If that was the case she could make a hell of a lot more money being a stripper. Janelle did not want that, she wanted better for herself. Janelle ended up down a busy street lined with stores, and she was helpless to resist. She began going in and out, if only to window shop. She only had a small amount of money, so she had to be careful. She stepped into a small store that was packed with clothes. It was nearly empty, and it was late in the evening so she understood why. Stores would be closing soon, but she did not want her night to end. She continued down the street, nodding to the few faces she recognized as she passed them. Most people knew her from school, or work, or church. It was not a large town, but the small and intimate kind where everyone knew your business. Sometimes even before you did. Stacey worked up a few blocks from where she was, so she continued with a new purpose.
Janelle had been in the lingerie store a few times, it was on the less crowded side of town but people still gossiped when they saw anyone go inside. Stacey greeted her warmly with a hug, and told her that Audrey had quit that morning. Audrey had always been a bit flakey, and Stacey seemed relieved. “I might have went online and put in your application.” Stacey admitted, and did not even have the decency to blush about it. “Come on Janelle, you can’t work at that stupid restaurant your entire life. I did you a favor!” But even though Janelle knew she should have been mad, she could not find it in her heart to be. Stacey had done her a favor, and Janelle’s only concern was how she was going to repay her for it. “I put myself down as a reference. The manager will probably look over it tomorrow.” Stacey continued matter-of-factly. “Also once you get hired you get a discount, and I think you should buy this, it would look wicked hot on you!” Stacey said running her fingers down a hot pink silk teddy. The two girls were interrupted when a man entered. “Hey, I’m looking for something for my wife.” Stacey winked. “Watch and learn, consider this your on the job training.”
PLANS: Janelle is not going to be the most useful person, if anything she is going to be a useless diva. However, eventually the time will come where other people will need her. If nothing else she will be a perky upbeat person to have around. Also I would like for her to find love, or at least find a way to prove that she is worth keeping around. Also I would love for her to get her hands on a bow, I'm thinking she will find she is quite talented with archery.
