HISTORY BEFORE:
He was born Joshua James Albreichson on April 13, 1960 in Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York. His mother, Dorothy, lived there until her death having retired from the City Clerk's Office. His father, also deceased, was a repairman and a drummer with Artie Shaw's Band.
He grew up used to having to fight to get his way. He bullied other students through his youth and when he started college, he joined a motorcycle gang. He did push through college though, which distanced him from his delinquent friends. His success got him cast out of the group, he sold his motorcycle and started to work as a low level businessman in New York.
He never had very good relations with people, especially when he started getting back into work, but he worked hard and persevered, covering the mistakes of his youth with well thought out lies. However, he was found out in 1990 when he was thirty by his girlfriend. He was fired from his job and he left New York, searching for other job experience.
He married in 1996 to a girl he met in South Carolina at a Civil War reenactment. He had various jobs through his thirties and moved to Washington at forty, having discovered Civil War reenactments and having received a well paid Teaching job in Vancouver, Washington.
He started working at home at fifty, with years of success behind him. He devoted his spare time to his two favorite passions, hunting and reenacting. He would go on vacations to the Dakotas with his wife (who also liked to hunt).
DURING APOCALYPSE:
When the Apocalypse came, he was at a reenactment. A zombie ran onto the field and started biting people. Despite police presence and the other reenactors, the zombie continued turning people. He seized the initiative and stabbed the zombie with his bayonet repeatedly. However, his wife was one of those bitten and she along with all the other victims had died on the way to the hospital (which had been flooded with such events). He never saw her again.
He attempted to get in contact with his family, but the line was busy almost constantly. He spent over 16 hours trying to reach his family before he got through, but no one picked up. He Then spent the next few hours barricading his home and keeping out of sight of all people. He kept quiet, waiting for the next few days. He made sure to fill his bathtub, just in case the power went out. He kept his hunting rifle primed and ready in case those diseased came back.
ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:Feeling the cold Portland air coming down the tall city buildings, Joshua held up a finger, testing the wind direction. This kind of test changed significantly from the forests to the cities and he wanted to get it right. The air passed towards the northeast, channeled by the forgotten businesses and apartments. Joshua grinned to himself, narrowing his eyes. A small herd of deer was eating its way up 52nd Street. Raising his rifle to his shoulder, he aimed for an outlying doe. The iron sights barely shifted off the doe as she moved. His finger closed on the trigger.
The doe fell. He pumped his fist in triumph as the rest of the herd stampeded through the cityscape. He crept closer, wary of movement in the buildings around the felled doe. A zombie burst from its cover, charging towards the scent of blood. A single shot stopped it, a quarter size hole opening up in the side of its head. Albreichson jogged towards the dead doe.
He dragged the carcass of the doe down the street towards his vehicle, a big Cadillac Escalade. The black car was between to narrow buildings, with just enough room to maneuver on the driver's side. He hoisting the doe into the back seat and flipped a tarp over it. He shut the door and opened the driver's seat door. Slipping the keys into the ignition, Joshua kept a wary eye on the entrance to the alleyway. Hearing the sound of feet on concrete, he dropped behind the door, un-holstering his pistol again and cocking it. He peeked over the door frame, through the window, and whistled three times sequentially. "Human!" he called out hesitantly.
