ZOMBIES OF SURVIVING THE END
[/li][/ul]- Zombies lack: basic reasoning skills, motor skills which require more complex thoughts (which rules out any climbing zombies, though being able to drag themselves to a higher platform is possible, depending on the brain-power involved and the stage they are in), empathy or emotions, they do not possess super- hearing, vision, or any such nonsense.
- Zombies have: a unique hunger which drives them endlessly toward their meals, and a strong reaction to other zombies’ groans, which will alert them to food. They lack the ability to feel pain, as the virus controls only their muscles, not their nerves.. which is obviously an advantage to them. It takes longer for them to decompose than it does a normal human body, as they are moving creatures on which mammals, rodents, maggots, and other such things don’t feast.
- Primary stage: they are you and me, without actually being alive; none of their organs or muscles have deteriorated, making it possible for them to run at alarming speeds without regard for any pain that may be inflicted upon them in the process. And they do not succumb to fatigue (this fact applies to all stages). They are just as strong as they were when alive.
- Secondary stage: as the muscles begin to deteriorate they slow down and speeds can vary depending on the amount of decomposition and damage to their muscle tissue. They deteriorate at a rate based on their location. For example, a zombie in hot and humid environment would decompose a great deal faster than one in, say, a cold and dry area.
- Tertiary stage: they are wasting away at this stage, only able to slowly walk, and don’t have much strength. They do, however, have a greater hunger, as feeding gets more difficult for them, they only become more desperate for it. They are often times in larger groups, most likely because their senses (eyes, particularly, as their rate of decomposition is rather high) have dulled enough to make them lumber in the direction of any zombie making a sound, hoping it is food.
- Quaternary: They are more or less gone at this stage, dying completely, generally a thin skeleton covered in leathery skin (though, once again, that is dependent on which area it decomposes in). At this stage they are no longer a threat and will most likely die for good.. though, who really knows?
